Neighborhood Meeting

On May 14, 2019, our three streets held a community meeting to discuss the idea of an Irrigation Water Delivery District (IWDD). An IWDD is common within Arcadia and greater Phoenix. An IWDD is run by neighbors living within our three streets, and it BENEFITS ONLY OUR STREETS (Catalina Pinchot, and Avalon). The organization will take stewardship of our aging irrigation water infrastructure. It ensures that our water system is properly maintained, mitigating the risk of breaks and floods that could impact adjacent properties. Most importantly, an IWDD ensures our neighborhood has continued access to inexpensive (City water is 75x more expensive) irrigation water that allows Arcadia Corners to have beautiful green tree lined streets. Without irrigation water, most of our large trees would die. Our properly values are directly supported by irrigation and a vote YES for an IWDD ensures our infrastructure is maintained. Our irrigation system is currently maintained by neighborhood donation. We go door to door and collect money for this critical neighborhood infrastructure. With an IWDD, the process is simplified by a once a year collection on property tax of $27.84 a year/average. (0.232 acre lot at the proposed tax rate of $120.00 per acre). Everyone within the boundary both contributes and is protected by the service an IWDD provides. Every neighbor within the irrigation district is adjacent to an irrigation line, and an IWDD monitors and repairs potential water issues breaks while securing inexpensive water access for everyone within the IWDD, wether or not you currently receive irrigation water.
