Arcadia is known for its cooler green streets with beautiful, large trees, all sustained by flood irrigation water. As our neighborhood is now over 70 years old, some of these trees are disappearing. Water stress from lots ending flood irrigation, coupled with age, is causing many of the trees to die. Let’s keep our streets beautiful by planting trees today! The best time to plant a tree is today!

Raywood Ash

Deciduous large fast growing tree that thrives in AZ. Mature trees are commonly around 40-50 feet tall. Leaves are a deep green but turn a deep red/burgundy in the fall, they are pretty unique looking in that regard!

Eucalyptus

Evergreen (green leaves year-round). They have several different varieties, but all are very fast growers (can go up to 50 feet tall). A “Ghost Gum” variety is very popular in AZ right now, due to having almost luminously white bark. They do very well in AZ. Red River Gum is prominent in Arcadia drive.

Ficus (Indian Laurel)

Evergreen dense canopy. Very popular shade tree that thrives on our flood irrigation. Can get up to 50 feet tall (some even taller). You’ll see a lot of these in our area!

Red Push Pistache

Deciduous shade tree with vibrant orange/red fall colors. It is drought tolerant and pretty popular in Arizona. Mature trees will be between 25-40 feet tall.

Chinese Elm

Deciduous large fast-growing tree that handles our Phoenix area heat well. Provides a large shade canopy and can get up to 50 feet tall. Small green leaves turn yellow/orange in the fall. Also, very popular in our area

Additional accepted trees for the free tree planting are; Allepo Pine, Arizona Ash, Arizona Sycamore, Chinese Pistache, Coolibah, Indian Rosewood, Live Oak, Shoe String Acacia, Silk-Oak, Thornless Honey-locust,.

The staff at Whitfill have told us they can offer a 10-15% discount. The discount depends on how large our group order is. October, or early November is the best time to plant.

Price for a 24″ box/25 Gallon (both equivalent) is about $500 (includes delivery and planting!). This is the price for any of these trees except the Ficus (it’s $600 for the Ficus due to popularity). These are typically 5/6-year-old trees and are ready to take off in our flood irrigated lots.
